Even though we are still enjoying very sunny and warm weather, summer will soon be over. We are already enjoying the soft golden autumn light, dahlias are in bloom, figs and quinces will soon be ripe and grapes are slowly ripening.

Before entering the rainy and cold winter, why not take a short break at Villa Le Barone and enjoy grape picking season, wine tasting, autumn colours and tuscan gastronomy?

As you know, Villa Le Barone is located in the heart of the “Conca d’Oro”, the cradle of Chianti Classico, a world famous Tuscan wine! The wine festival in Greve (10 minutes drive from Villa Le Barone) held on September 12, 13 and 14: you will be able to taste as many Chianti wines as you wish and also to take part in the many events organized at this occasion (concerts, parade, exhibitions, etc) .

The famous wine festival in Panzano held on September 19, 20, 21 and everyone in Panzano will be will be keen to make you taste their best food and wine!

In Florence, enjoy music and paintings and gardens: the exhibition on Medici and the Sciences continues at Palazzo Pitti, and an exhibition in the Boboli Gardens will allow you to take a leap into the ancient Pompeian section of them. Concerts and operas (La Bohème, La Traviata, Tosca …) are being given and Villa Le Barone can assist you in getting seats.

On September 14th, go to the flea market in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, (20 minutes drive from Villa Le Barone).

On September 28th, you can choose between the “gastronomic feast” in Colle Val d’Elsa (1/2h from Villa Le Barone), where you will be able to taste all flavours from each Tuscan region, and the “Wine Feasts “ in Impruneta or in Castelnuovo Berardenga (also very close).

On Sunday 5th October, you will be able to enjoy a concert, flute and guitar, in the “Pieve San Leolino” (5 minutes walk from Villa Le Barone).

In Montaione, on October 28th, you will enjoy the “Sagra della Castagna e del Tartufo” (truffles and chestnut feast).

In Siena, it is now possible to admire the completely uncovered marble floor in the Duomo (main church).

You might also wish to discover Arezzo (where a well known antique fair is held every first week end of the month ).

“Of course, Villa Le Barone can also organise for you wine tastings in other nearby wineries such as Fontodi (don’t miss their Flaccianello), Fonterutoli (their Siepi sells all over the world), Rocca di Castagnoli, Riseccoli, La Marcellina etc. . . ”

A water color painting course, (in French), will be given from October 26th to November 1st, by Jean Francois Grillard. Villa Le Barone will keep 3 rooms open in the “Granaio” from November 1st to April 10th 2009 on a B&B basis: this is to respond to requests from many guests who want to enjoy the end of autumn and winter quietness!
